​Council of the Summer Village of Rochon Sands

​The Mayor and Council of the Summer Village of Rochon Sands are elected to provide local leadership, set municipal policy, and make decisions on behalf of the community in accordance with Alberta legislation.
​
Council acts collectively through resolutions and bylaws passed at duly constituted meetings and provides strategic direction and oversight to municipal administration.

Municipal Elections

Summer Village of Rochon Sands Council Sworn In

​At the Organizational Meeting held on August 12, 2025, Commissioner for Oaths Carol Dyck officially swore in the newly elected Council for the Summer Village of Rochon Sands.
​
Council members Dan Hiller, Darren Benson, and Jim Blaney each took their Oaths of Office before beginning their new term. Following the swearing-in, Council selected its leadership positions, with Councillor Dan Hiller appointed as Mayor and Councillor Darren Benson appointed as Deputy Mayor.
​
The Summer Village congratulates our new Council and looks forward to their leadership and service in the years ahead.

Council Meetings
Regular Council meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each Month starting at 6:00 pm at the Municipal Office, #1 Hall Street, Rochon Sands. These meetings are open to the public and will continue to use Zoom for public viewing and will be posted on the Friday prior to the scheduled meeting for live stream through the following links:

  • The Summer Village of Rochon Sands Council is made up of three elected officials, supported by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Office/Park Manager, and the Public Works Foreman.
  • Council is responsible for establishing bylaws, setting policies, and approving the municipal budget.
  • The CAO ensures these policies are implemented in accordance with the Municipal Government Act.
  • The Public Works Foreman oversees the maintenance of Village property and equipment, with additional help from seasonal staff during the summer months.
  • Parks/Municipal staff are responsible for operating the two Provincial Park campgrounds.​
