Property Tax Due Dates
Property taxes are issued annually. The due date for payment is set by Council and is shown on your annual property tax notice.
Property taxes are due on or before June 30 each year, unless otherwise stated on your tax notice. Payments made by mail must be postmarked on or before the due date to be considered on time.
Penalties and interest may apply to unpaid balances after the due date. See the Tax Penalties & Interest section below for details.
How to Pay Your Property Taxes
Property taxes can be paid using the methods outlined below. Please ensure your roll number is included with all payments to ensure they are applied correctly.
Property taxes can be paid online using our secure payment provider. Please note that third-party service fees may apply.
Property taxes can be paid through your financial institution’s online banking service by setting up the municipality as a payee. Processing times may vary by institution.
Payments may be made by cheque payable to the Summer Village of Rochon Sands or in person at the municipal office during regular office hours.
The Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) allows property taxes to be paid in monthly installments by pre-authorized debit. See the TIPP section below for details.
Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP)
The Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) allows eligible property owners to pay their annual property taxes in monthly installments rather than a single payment.
Monthly payments are withdrawn by pre-authorized debit from January to December. Enrollment in TIPP is subject to program terms and conditions and requires an approved application.
Participation in TIPP does not exempt property owners from penalties on unpaid balances if the plan is cancelled or payments are missed.
Tax Penalties & Interest
Penalties and interest are applied to unpaid property tax balances in accordance with municipal bylaw.
Penalties are applied to outstanding balances after the tax due date. Once applied, penalties and interest form part of the tax arrears and remain payable until the account is paid in full.
The applicable penalty rates and calculation details are set out in the municipal Tax Penalty Bylaw, as amended from time to time.
Property Tax Notices
Property tax notices are issued annually and mailed to property owners at the address on file with the municipality.
Non-receipt of a property tax notice does not exempt a property owner from payment of taxes by the due date.
Property owners are encouraged to contact the municipal office if they have not received their tax notice by early June.

Property Taxes – Frequently Asked Questions
Why did my property taxes increase or decrease?
Your property taxes are influenced by three main factors:
- the assessed value of your property,
- the municipal tax rate set by Council, and
- requisitions from other taxing authorities, such as education and regional services, which are set by external bodies and are outside the municipality’s control.
- A significant portion of each property tax bill is made up of requisitions collected on behalf of other authorities and remitted by the municipality.
What happens if I miss the tax payment deadline?
If property taxes are not paid by the due date shown on your tax notice, penalties and interest will be applied in accordance with the municipal Tax Penalty Bylaw. Once applied, penalties form part of the tax arrears and remain payable until the account is paid in full.
Can I pay my property taxes in installments?
Yes. The Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) allows eligible property owners to pay their annual taxes through monthly pre-authorized payments. Participation is subject to program terms and requires an approved application.
What if I don’t receive my property tax notice?
Property tax notices are mailed annually; however, non-receipt of a tax notice does not exempt a property owner from payment by the due date. Property owners are encouraged to contact the municipal office if a notice has not been received by early June.
How do I request a tax certificate or replacement tax notice?
Tax certificates and replacement tax notices may be requested through the municipality’s online payment system or by contacting the municipal office. Applicable fees apply, and requests may take several business days to process.
Does paying through TIPP or online banking guarantee my payment is on time?
Property owners are responsible for ensuring payments are received by the due date. Processing times may vary depending on the payment method used. It is recommended to allow sufficient time for payments to be processed before the deadline.
