The Summer Village of Rochon Sands operates both the Rochon Sands Provincial Park and the Narrows Provincial Recreation Area which are located on the south shores of Buffalo Lake. Both campgrounds are managed on-site by campsite managers and are monitored for the safety and enjoyment of our guests.
Rochon Sands Provincial Park is one of the older provincial parks in Alberta that has a wonderful natural feeling. The park is full of treed sites, picnic tables, and fire pits, and is very close to the lake. It is the perfect place to make memories with your family and friends!
The provincial park has 67 RV sites, 11 walk-in tenting sites, 6 large RV group sites, 2 small RV group sites, and 3 small group tenting areas. We can accommodate any size of unit in the campground. Most of our sites are UNSERVICED; therefore, generators are allowed. They must be on the user's site and turned off during the quiet hours of 11 PM to 7 AM. We only have 2 individual sites and 1 group site that have power: Site #1, Site #2 & Group Site A. We are working towards having some serviced sites in the future. Rochon Sands Provincial Park only has non-potable water in the campground. If you require potable water, there is a coin and card-operated potable bucket fill station on the east side of HWY 835 as you enter the boundary of the Summer Village of Rochon Sands. |
REVIEWS!I had the pleasure of camping at Rochon Sands, again. We have camped there many times. This place has clear water ,warm enough water pretty shallow , weather is very nice ,lots of areas to explore and we had lots of fun ! a fun camp ground to be. its clean environment with good friendly staff highly recommended. Great campsite! Camp sites are in good shape and are large enough and we'll treed! Was very thankful for how friendly and accommodating they were Clean, organized, friendly and well-run. There are so many birds here; it's a great place for birding. Nice trails to walk and nice beach. Small playground. Tent camping was lovely. |
We strongly suggest making reservations during the months of July and August but there are 8 First-Come-First-Serve (FCFS) (site numbers 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25) available. The sites must be paid in full to reserve any sites, including group sites. We have an online reservation system: CampReservations.ca that will open early in 2025 for the 2025 camping season.
From mid-May to September Long Weekend, the park office staff are there to help you with any questions or concerns and try their best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The park office has some items for the beach, ice, and firewood to purchase. We take many types of payment during operational hours:
- Cash
- Cheques
- Credit cards through the online reservation system :
- OptionPay for credit cards (Narrows Campground)
After September Long Weekend, the campground becomes FCFS and self-registration only. Please have cash or cheques for payment during that period. Credit Card payments can also be made through OptionPay. The Park Office is closed for the season after Labour Day.
The campground is open to camp from May Long Weekend to Thanksgiving (weather dependent on the closure date).
