The Summer Village of Rochon Sands administers both Rochon Sands Provincial Park and The Narrows Provincial Recreation Area which are located on the south shores of Buffalo Lake. Both campgrounds are managed on-site by campsite managers and are monitored for the safety and enjoyment of our guests.
To describe Rochon Sands Provincial Park, it is one of the older provincial parks in Alberta that has a wonderful natural feeling. The park is full of treed sited, picnic tables, fire pits, and it is very close to the lake. It is the perfect place to make memories with your family and friends!
The provincial park has 78 RV sites, 11 walk-in tenting sites, and 7 large group sites, and 2 smaller group tenting areas. We can accommodate any size of unit in the campground. Most of our sites are UNSERVICED; therefore, generators are allowed. They must be on the user's site and turned off during the quiet hours of 11 PM to 7 AM. We only have a few sites that have power: Site #2, Group A, and Group Office. We are working towards having some serviced sites in the future. We only have non-potable water in the campground, so we ask for campers to please come full with water. The Park Office does have an outside spigot that has potable water. You can fill camping water jugs from it, even after hours at the office for your convenience. |
REVIEWS!I had the pleasure of camping at Rochon Sands, again. We have camped there many times. This place has clear water ,warm enough water pretty shallow , weather is very nice ,lots of areas to explore and we had lots of fun ! a fun camp ground to be. its clean environment with good friendly staff highly recommended. Great campsite! Camp sites are in good shape and are large enough and we'll treed! Was very thankful for how friendly and accommodating they were Clean, organized, friendly and well-run. There are so many birds here; it's a great place for birding. Nice trails to walk and nice beach. Small playground. Tent camping was lovely. |
We strongly suggest making reservations during the months of July and August but there are 8 First-Come-First-Serve (FCFS) (site numbers 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25) available. The sites must be paid in full to reserve any sites, including group sites. We are working on having an online reservation system in place for the 2023 camping season to help make it easier for campers and staff bookings.
During Mid-May to September Long Weekend, the park office staff is there to help you with any questions or concerns and try their best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. In the office, we keep some items for the beach, ice, and firewood to purchase. We take many types of payment during operational hours:
- Cash
- Cheques
- Debit
- Visa
- Mastercard
After September Long, the campground becomes FCFS and self-registration only. Please have cash or cheques for payment during that period. The office is also closed for the rest of the season starting from the Monday of the September Long Weekend.
The campground is open to camp from May Long to Thanksgiving (weather dependent on the closure date).
